7th Annual Ladies’ Spring Brunch & Fashion Show

10:00am – 1:00pm

First Baptist Church 401 Houston Street

The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church Levelland is excited to be hosting our 7th annual Ladies’ Spring Brunch and Fashion Show! Whether you attend FBC or not, we invite you and the special women in your life to join us for a fun and inspirational time of fellowship on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

You will be treated to a delicious brunch, a fashion show featuring local businesses, fabulous door prizes, and our guest speaker. Back by popular demand, MARTHA MARIE & Me creator, Rita Morrow, will be performing. Rather than appearing as her comedic alter ego, Martha Marie, we’re excited to see Rita herself taking the stage through a parade of characters closest to her, in the show, REAL LIFE & Me. “Without a doubt, if there are real kids, and a real man, in the vicinity of a real woman anywhere, comedy is about to come oozing out. We only need to hide and watch.”

Doors of Judson Hall will open at 9:30 AM for registration and to view the decorated tables.

Purchase your ticket ($15) and make nursery-age child care reservations by April 24, 2017, by calling the FBC church office (894-3143).

If you’re interested in decorating a table this year, please contact Aimee at 781-8772 ASAP! If you’re interested in modeling, contact Sharon.

SPC slates annual Peace Officer Memorial at 10 a.m. on May 3

LEVELLAND – The annual Peace Officer Memorial is slated for 10 a.m. May 3 (Wednesday)  at the entrance to South Plains College.

The event pays tribute to law enforcement officers whose lives were lost while serving and protecting citizens across the United States. More than 140 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2016 with 25 officers in Texas.

“We honor the fallen by training the living,” is the motto of the South Plains College Law Enforcement Technology program.

The speaker this year is Captain Scott Hudgens of the Lubbock Police Department. He has been with Lubbock PD for more than 30 years. Capt. Hudgens has served as a member of the SPC Law Enforcement Technology Advisory Committee since 2007 and he is currently the chairperson of the committee.

The SPC Law Enforcement Honor Guard will perform a 21-gun salute and Taps. Also, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the Lubbock Fire Marshal Pipes and Drum Corps will participate in the service.

For more information, contact Dr. Lance Scott, chairperson of Professional Services and Energy and associate professor in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Technology, at (806) 716-2558.
